A correct installation of the glass mosaic is the key to obtain an optimal aesthetic and technical result in swimming-pools, hammams, façades. For this reason, Reviglass offers the ideal product, correctly mounted in shape, measure and support.

The use of latest generation production systems allows our sheets to be aligned squarely and their measures do not vary from one another.

In general, mounting choice is not getting the required attention even though it is a crucial matter when choosing a mosaic. Basically, it is only a way of transport of the tiles, in a specific order, from the factory to the building site. Once the mosaic has been installed, its mounting has no technical use, as it is only the adhesive the one in charge of keeping the mosaic attached to the wall.

The separate pieces of mosaics can be glued either face side down (paper-faced with a rubber paper that has to be detached with water after laying the mosaics, right before the grouting) or bedding side down to a net made of different materials: nylon fabric, drilled paper, fiberglass, PVC dots or Polyurethane Cord.

Inside pools, fountains, ponds… the support should not cover more than 20% of the surface of the mosaics.

For these systems to be suitable, specially for applications in water immersion like swimming-pools, fountains or ponds, it is required that the mounting leaves the maximum free surface on the back of the tile. This will help maximizing the contact between the tile and the adhesive. It is believed that a minimum 70% of free space is required to avoid tile detachment, although Australian standards talk about 80%. A good mounting choice is, then, crucial and that is why Reviglass recommend to beware of those who don’t comply with this basic condition.

Since 1985, Reviglass have been pioneer applying different support techniques on the back of the tiles, including the Polyurethane Cord mounting. With this advanced and innovative system, tiles are attached one another by the application of hotmelt polyurethane cord stripes, which leaves more than 85% of free space in the back of 2,5×2,5 cm tiles and more than 92% in 3,6×3,6cm or 5×5 cm tiles.

Furthermore, these Polyurethane stripes do not enter the space dedicated to the joint, which means that the grouting will fill a 100% of the joint, providing a stronger bonding. They also allow an easier installation, even in rounded and curved surfaces. This system is, therefore, the ideal solution to any glass mosaic installation project.
